Autumn has begun, and with it some very exciting Sinfonia Cymru concerts!
It was First Wednesday at the Riverfront Theatre in Newport yesterday. And for me, as I’ve just started as Sinfonia Cymru’s new Marketing and Communications Officer, it was my first First Wednesday. I had a fantastic time – and so did the rest of the very appreciative audience. It was great to hear their lovely comments after the performance.
Next week it’s our Autumn concert series, Music for Strings. We’ll be performing in Cardiff, Pontyberem and Newport, with a programme of expressive and emotive chamber music from Strauss, Haydn, Bach and Tchaikovsky. This series will also mark our farewell to Leader and violinist Bartosz Woroch, as it will be Bartosz’s last with Sinfonia Cymru. We’ll be in Cardiff on Thursday 15th, Pontyberem on Friday 16th and Newport on Saturday 17th – head over to out What’s On page for more information and to buy tickets.
With barely a pause for breath, on 20th October we’re off the the Royal Albert Hall to take part in a very special concert in honour of Bryn Terfel’s 50th birthday. We’ll be performing alongside some outstanding artists, with the likes of Catrin Finch, Only Men Aloud and Sting just some of the top names on the bill. The concert is being recorded by Sky Arts, so don’t worry if you can’t be there in person, you don’t have to miss out on seeing this amazing show!
And whilst we’re on the subject of birthdays, next year Sinfonia Cymru will be 20! We’ve got some exciting plans for our anniversary year, so stay tuned and look out for more information soon!
