Mid Wales Chamber Orchestra: Mentoring Programme II: with Sinfonia Cymru / 11th - 14th May / Marcia Crayford, Violin / Moray Welsh, Cello
Mid Wales Chamber Orchestra will be working in collaboration with Sinfonia Cymru in order to strengthen our mission to support the professional development of young musicians. The project will culminate in four concerts in Mid Wales with the mentors for this project, violinist Marcia Crayford (co-artistic director MWCO) and cellist Moray Welsh performing alongside young professional musicians from Sinfonia Cymru.
Marcia was leader of the internationally acclaimed Nash Ensemble for 25 years and was then invited to become leader of the London Symphony Orchestra. She has worked as Guest Leader for most of the major UK orchestras. She has extensive experience as a mentor having worked on the Mendelssohn on Mull Festival for many years, led masterclasses and mentoring sessions, been a Governor of the Yehudi Menuhin School and an Advisor for YCAT.
Moray Welsh studied in Moscow with Rostropovich and was principal cellist for the London Symphony Orchestra and has performed as a chamber musician with such artists as Midori, Leif Ove Andsnes and James Galway. He taught for many years at the Royal Northern College of Music.
